Please Gloria

The Bible says: those who live in the dark will never see the light. I believe na ang isang taong binabalutan ng kasuwapangan will never see the light. They go to church announced with photos published so people will see them as good and holy. But there really is what's called karma and this is what will put them in a place that’s right for them and their matching evil deeds... eventually...someday. It usually comes as a surprise and can be unbearable, and it will teach them to be humble. I say these things because of what I’ve read today on the internet about Gloria Arroyo, our supposed to be exiting presidente. Yes, her end is very near and can’t hardly wait too. But, and it’s a big but, but, but, what they’re saying is that she continue to travel and spends like crazy. I’m just saying what they have been saying, and if at all true, then I join everybody in saying, "please Gloria, stop! please leave!"

(Dindo Matining/Rose Miranda, Abante Online, April 17, 2010)

Politics and election sucks

It's election time in the Philippines right now. May 10 is the day to cast votes. I’ve never voted in the Philippines. E kasi naman martial law at that time. Nang ibalik ang demokrasya which opened all doors in politics, nandito na ako sa tate. At that time, wala talaga akong hilig sa politics. This time, I feel the need to be involved. Kasi it’s really been a long time na wala tayong asenso. Corruptions have gotten worst – evil and worst. No matter what they say that we shouldn’t believe everything we see in the news, I believe those pictures never lie unless doctored. We need to change, and change can only happen if we can vote for someone very honest, incorruptible, and will fight corruptions. I do believe poverty was caused by corruptions.

Teodoro, Villar unsure about going after Arroyo if elected president

ABS-CBN reports:

Of the 8 contenders who participated in the ANC presidential youth forum held in De La Salle University in Manila, only Teodoro and Villar gave passive replies on whether they would hold Arroyo responsible for all her alleged misdeeds during her 9 years in office.
Teodoro is the administration’s candidate while Villar, who has allied himself with the opposition, is the standard-bearer of Nacionalista Party (NP).
Not a surprise at all because we know well that Teodoro is the Arroyo administration candidate and that Villar, apparently a coward leader, won’t perhaps face anything that has nothing to do with his business and wealth - and I can’t imagine how he will lead a country that has sank years ago from sever corruptions starting from the Marcos administration. Aquino stressed the need for “closure” on many issues and scandals that caused the people to loose confidence in our government. All the others said they would actively go after the outgoing president, who may face a deluge of cases--from corruption to human rights violations--when her term ends on June 30.

'Ninoy a hero, Villar a coward' - no comparison

Villar's quote in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News comparing himself with Ninoy Aquino shocked and irked many people including Ninoy's son, Noynoy and his camp.

"Villar should defend himself according to his own merits, and not by disparaging the untarnished memory of a national hero," a statement from Aquino campaign spokesperson Atty. Edwin Lacierda said.

"In the case of Ninoy, he was tried for his obstinate opposition to authoritarian and repressive rule, even in the face of certain death, while Villar is being asked to answer serious corruption charges and unethical conduct where the penalty is censure and retribution, a far cry from the death penalty imposed on Ninoy," Lacierda said.

"Ninoy was tried by a kangaroo court that was subject to the whims of a dictator while Villar was accorded every opportunity to defend himself in a democratic and transparent process which he repeatedly ignored," he added.

"There is simply no comparison; Ninoy is a hero. Villar is nothing but a coward," Lacierda said.

Aquino III also had some harsh comments for Sen. Arroyo, who served as executive secretary of the late former President Corazon Aquino.

Aquino III said that Sen. Arroyo today is different from the human rights lawyer and freedom fighter of the past.

Senator Aquillino Pimentel's attitude not fit to be in any leadership

Unfortunately, this is the kind of leadership we have in our country.

Pimentel made the apology through a prayer that he recited before the opening of the Senate session on Tuesday...

"Dear Lord, we, your senators, are embroiled in a stormy debate over a controversy involving a colleague of ours. In the heat of the discussion, some of us tend to use words that are coarse and vulgar. To those who I might have hurt in this chamber by the use of intemperate language or unseemly expressions, I apologize and beg their forgiveness through you, Lord," said Pimentel.
...but refused to apologize directly to the person he offended.
On Tuesday, Roxas, who remained hurt and offended by the remark, said Pimentel did not need to apologize to him, but to Sanchez.

“Hindi naman kailangang mag-apologize (sa akin) si Senator Nene. Mag-apologize siya sa misis ko kasi siya ang tinamaan ng kanyang kabastusan," Roxas said at a press conference after the 64th anniversary celebration of the Liberal Party (LP).

(He doesn’t need to apologize to me. He should apologize to my wife because she was the one affected by his rude remark.)

During the same press conference, LP senatorial candidates had likewise slammed Pimentel for making the remark.

"At the age of Nene, he should know what is right and what is wrong," said LP senatorial candidate Sonia Roco, wife of the late Senator Raul Roco.

Before he decided to make the apology through a prayer, Pimentel said in a text message to GMANews.TV Tuesday that he was willing to say sorry to anyone he had hurt with his remark.

"If I hurt anyone, [I] am ready to apologize but not on imagined political partisan slights," he said.

However, when the senior lawmaker was asked by reporters if he would heed Roxas' call for him to apologize to Sanchez, Pimentel said, "How did Korina come into the picture? I have no quarrel with Korina."

Senator Pimentel should apologize for his rude and out of line "sex joke”

Throwing a sex joke towards Senator Mar Roxas while having a serious senate session, yes, Senator Pimentel should apologize. That was rude, out of line, and disrespectful towards Korina as well.

Noynoy's girlfriend speaks up

When PEP asked Shalani to comment on Kris' issue, here is her comment:

Kris will always be Noynoy's sister. When asked to comment on the current issue about Kris's married life, Shalani hesitated because she doesn't know the whole story. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)

"Tungkol doon sa personal na nangyayari sa kanya, I am not very much aware of the facts, so I cannot comment," the lady councilor politely answered.

However, while many think that Kris's marital problem would give a negative effect on her brother's presidential bid, Shalani says otherwise.

"Well, I think Noy is his own person, e. So, kung ano ang mako-contribute ni Kris, is also very good, considering na she's a very credible endorser," she said.

The media also asked Shalani's reaction about comments saying that the Liberal Party, the political party she and Noynoy belong to, should not get Kris as an endorser anymore.

The lady councilor said it would not be possible.

"Well, number one, I don't think that the party will prohibit Kris to be the endorser of Senator Noynoy," she explained. "Number two, Kris will always be the sister of Senator Noynoy and Kris will always be a credible endorser.

"I don't think the Liberal Party will [intrude] doon sa family affairs or personal na buhay ni Kris. It has never been the stand of the Liberal Party to gain personalities, more on issue-based, e. So, I don't think they would prohibit Kris, or anyone else with that regard, to endorse Senator Noynoy."

Councilor Soledad talks more about her full support to the presidential candidacy of Senator Noynoy Aquino in Election Watch, PEP's special microsite for the 2010 elections.

Noynoy Aquino continue to top the polls

Noynoy continue to lead the polls which is a proof in the pudding that he is what the Filipinos today are hoping for to bring change to the ever sinking country. They believe that the main reason for their povery is corruption and Noynoy is obviously has been proven to be not what corruption is.

Emil Jurado's attack on Noynoy's integrity is misleading and confusing especially we know that the country is great turmoil not to mention facing extreme hardships mainly due to corruptions of highly qualified and experienced government officials (kuno) today and even in the past who were even said to have excellent record and expertice but only to fail us over and over again.

 He said:

What this country needs is a President with enough experience and know-how. The challenges we face are daunting.

Certainly, anybody who claims he is “clean” is not good enough.

As I have been saying all along, the presidency is not a training ground for someone whose only qualification is that he is the son of famous parents.

Integrity is not enough. Our problems are too enormous and we need the leadership of somebody with experience and expertise.
But the opinion of Butch Abad came out to be more convincing:
Aquino’s campaign manager Butch Abad said Noynoy’s popularity is based on people’s perception of his integrity, which people equate to having a government with less corruption and more resources for their economic needs should he succeed as president.

They expect this perception to be sustained through the May elections.

“It’s not just the perception of integrity of Noynoy that endears him to the people, but also their awareness that curbing corruption means more basic services for them,” Abad said in a telephone interview with The STAR.

Abad said voters began prioritizing the integrity of presidential aspirants after the death of Noynoy’s mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

“Before the death of President Cory (Aquino) and the entry of Noynoy (in the presidential race), integrity was always below in the order of priorities of voters. They had wanted a provider. But the death of President Cory made people realize that they now want a leader who is clean and not corrupt,” Abad said.
People will decide as long as they use their own good judgment and not allow themselves to be swayed back and forth. In other words, never ever to sell their votes and then regret the outcome later.

How corrupt is Manny Villar? Watch this!

We had and still have so many corrupt leaders – the main reason why our country is in such serious hardship and turmoil, so when are we ever going to learn our lessons? Villar has not proven his innocence in this accusation, so why should we entrust our country to him. It seems like he is a “no show” to anything where he might get confronted about the issue. Watch this video!

Ampatuan wealth investigated - why only now?

The government must know but must have looked the other way. In looking at those mansions of the Ampatuans built so comfortably while being surrounded by people of extreme poverty, you would think somebody would have noticed, questioned, or investigated them. But, out of fear, no one as in “no one” could dare because there’s too much power behind them. Keeping the poor people’s mouth shot makes them alive today. As they say: Arroyo is the president today because of the Ampatuan’s who gave her the Maguindanao votes 100% - and I’m sure there’s a lot of favors attached to it. It’s sad that 57 people had to die first before questionable wealth could get checked. Watch video.

Comelec to petition to disqualify Estrada soon

Estrada to run again? I don't think so. I think Estrada should be disqualified and he should just support a candidate. His image and reputation has been too tainted and he would just be contributing to the already damaged image of the country. And besides, I don't think he's even qualified to begin with. He already exhausted his chances in the past so it's time to give others the chance.

Here is the article by Mayen Jaymalin of STAR :

COMELEC RULING ON PETITION TO DISQUALIFY ERAP OUT SOON

MANILA, DECEMBER 7, 2009 (STAR) By Mayen Jaymalin - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will soon come out with a ruling on the petition to disqualify former President Joseph Estrada from running in the May 2010 presidential race.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said the commission is aware of the importance of an early decision on Estrada’s case.

He said the commissioners want to decide on the case immediately because they are expecting the issue to reach the Supreme Court.

“We want to give the SC more time to tackle it. The sooner it is out of the Comelec’s hands, the sooner the SC will have time to resolve it,” Jimenez explained.

A second petition calling for the disqualification of Estrada was filed before the Comelec last Saturday.

Lawyer Evillo Pormento said Estrada should be disqualified from running as president because it violates the 1987 Philippine Constitution, particularly Article VII Sec. 4, which states that the president shall not be eligible for any re-election.

The complainant said Estrada should be declared a nuisance candidate and be excluded from the official list of candidates to be printed in the ballots.

The complainant said that allowing Estrada to run is a clear violation of the 1987 Constitution and a bad precedent because other former presidents might also seek re-election.

Lawyer Oliver Lozano had earlier asked the Comelec to disqualify Estrada, but his petition was dismissed because the former president had not yet filed his certificate of candidacy.

The Comelec is hoping to finalize the list of candidates before the end of 2009, since printing of ballots starts in January 2010.

Massacre protests begins

According to the headlines:

Hundreds of journalists, human rights activists, lawyers and students marched in downtown Manila demanding justice for the 57 victims, including 30 journalists.

Blocking traffic and carrying mock coffins, the protesters claim President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is creating a climate where perpetrators believe they would not be held responsible for the brutal crimes.
But it seems like Gloria Arroyo is too engrossed to think or react about the massacre perhaps this is why abot tenga ang ngiti niya habang ang mga tao ay nagluluksa. If she is taking this horrible crime lightly, well, the people are not going to stop unless justice is fully served.

Ralph Recto, Vilma Santos, moved to Liberal joining Noynoy and Mar

Have you heard that Ralph and Vilma Santos-Recto has decided to move to Liberal Party, from the administration to the opposition. Yes, totoo na to. Lalong magiging maiinit ang laban, and in my opinion, the move will strengthen the already strong team of Noynoy and Mar.

Absolutely! because they will have a better future sa Liberal and the country will be better served because they will be united. o di bah?
