Judy Ann Santos is two months pregnant

MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - Young Superstar Judy Ann Santos and her husband, host-actor Ryan Agoncillo, on Friday confirmed that she is two months pregnant with their first child.

Agoncillo held up an ultrasound image of their baby during Friday's episode of "Eat Bulaga," where Agoncillo is a co-host.

In an interview on TV Patrol World, Judy Ann said she had an ultrasound done early Friday to confirm that she was indeed pregnant.

"My pregnancy test was already positive but we didn't want to announce it because the obstetrician said we should hold off until there was a heartbeat," she said.

"We waited until we were really sure since we didn't want to give false hope to people."

She said she and her husband had been praying for a baby after getting married last April 28, 2009 in San Juan, Batangas. "We've been waiting for this for so long after the wedding. It was really good timing," she said.

Santos said that she had no preference on the baby's gender as long as the baby is healthy.

She added that because of the pregnancy, she would have to take it slow when it comes to work.

Aside from tapings for her hit Kapamilya teleserye "Habang May Buhay," Santos is also starring in 2 movies, one under Viva Films with Sarah Geronimo and another under Unitel, with Marilou Diaz-Abaya at the helm.

"Extra careful lang sa work, medyo magbabawas lang ng konti sa trabaho, pero tatapusin ko lahat ng nasimulan bago mag-bakasyon ng dire-diretso para maging safe ang baby at maging safe din ako," Santos said in a separate interview.

Asked what her message was to her husband, Santos joked: "Basta pondohan niya lang yong mga bata."

The TV Patrol World report said Santos has started developing a craving for "white food" including panna cotta, macaroni soup and turnips.

Gladys Reyes, Santos' co-star in the long running series "Mara Clara", also congratulated the couple upon learning the news.

"I'm very, very happy for both of them. It's a big blessing. Kumpleto na!" she said.

Agoncillo and Santos were first paired in the teleserye "Krystala" where their romance blossomed. They have starred in two movies together, "Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo" and "Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo" -- both of which have been box office hits.

Agoncillo proposed marriage to Santos on her 30th birthday in May 2008.

Juday was deeply hurt

Juday finally gave her comment and reaction regarding Jamby's statement of regret for hiring a celebrity like Juday for her senatorial campaign.

PEP reports:

Judy Ann Santos initially did not want to comment on the recent statement made by Sen. Maria Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal about hiring actors for election campaigns.

The sole lady presidential aspirant in the May 2010 elections was caught saying at a forum held recently that: "The use of actors—you had to pay P30 million to endorse you—is an insult to the Filipino intelligence."

Sen. Madrigal also expressed her regret in getting a celebrity endorser—referring to Judy Ann—during her senatorial campaign in 2004. The senator said, "I have seen the folly of my ways... I will not repeat it because I do not believe you repeat a mistake. But I also don't believe you should perpetuate lies that are perpetuated by a big budget."

Judy Ann was hesitant to react to these statements made by Sen. Madrigal because she did not hear it personally. However, to make things clear, the 31-year-old actress related her feelings about the issue during the media conference of her Lactacyd endorsement yesterday, February 15, at Annabel's restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

"I was hurt. I was deeply hurt," she admitted. "Honestly, in my opinion, sa sinabi niyang mga words na she regrets getting my services... Of course, hindi naman po ako manhid para hindi masaktan dahil buong  paniniwala ko she got my services because she actually believed in me and it was a sincere offer."

Judy Ann also recalled the campaign rallies she attended for the Senator.

The actress also related that it was her talent manager Alfie Lorenzo who talked to Sen. Madrigal's camp about the endorsement. "Before she campaigned for the senatorial run, I already did an infomercial with her. From there, I thought that it's okay and magkaibigan naman kami and magkapartido naman sila ni Tatay Ron [the late Fernando Poe Jr.]."

LESSON LEARNED. Despite Sen. Madrigal's comment about geting celebrities as endorsers, Judy Ann said she does not regret campaigning for the former senatorial candidate.

I regret doing this or doing that.' I did it because I believed in her. It's just that, hindi pala siya naniniwala sa akin."

The actress also realized that this issue taught her a lesson about endorsing politicians.

So, when the actress was asked if she's would be endorsing a political candidate this coming May 2010 elections, she replied, "Kung mayroon man po akong ikakampanya, I'll do it in my own silent way. I opt to be silent kung sinuman ang ieendorso ko.

ON FAIR ELECTIONS ACT. During the interview, Judy Ann was also asked about her opinion on the Fair Elections Act, which states that celebrities and TV personalities who are in any way involved with a candidate or political party "shall be deemed resigned, if so required by their employer, or shall take a leave of absence from his/her work as such during the campaign period."

ON TALENT FEE. Meanwhile, the actress told the media to just ask her talent manager about the supposed talent fee that she got for  endorsing Sen. Madrigal.

Judy Ann said it's not proper for her to talk about it because, "Ang usapan ay pera, hindi naman dapat ako ang tinatanong diyan dahil talent lang ako.

After this, the actress said she would not talk about the issue anymore.

Judy Ann Santos, the last of the real big stars

Judy Ann Santos is the April issue cover for Metro Magazine’s 20th Anniversary special which includes Jose Javier Reyes, a well respected and award winning director and scriptwriter who shared and revealed his thoughts and opinion about why he considered Judy Ann the last of the real big stars.

Members of the media, including ABS-CBN.com, can attest that she is one of the few true blue artistas who work nonstop and can accommodate interruptions on the set without complaints. “That is how Judai works. In that aspect, Judai has not changed. It takes a movement of tectonic plates to make her budge or complain. She goes to the set and puts aside all qualms and concerns. There is not a shred of diva in her. She does not flaunt who she is or what she has,” he shares in the cover story of Metro.

Direk Joey further relates Judy Ann’s versatility in acting and constant reinvention of herself—even after doing a string of hit teleseryes and movies—which eventually made her a certified A-lister. “And just when people have thought they had already seen everything, Judai surprised them with a quiet yet very defined metamorphosis. She stunned them again when she came out of the romantic heroine mould into an effective spitfire comedienne in Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. Then she held the hands of her friend Dante Garcia and helped him produce an award-winning film at his first directorial attempt: suddenly, there was Judai—the producer,” he says.

Direk Joey also talks about how Judy Ann and her fiancĂ© Ryan Agoncillo have proven to a lot of people that their opposite personalities can withstand the test of time and showbiz intrigues. “They are people. And they make no excuses for being real. In a business where smiles are rehearsed and frozen, and being nice is a matter of business investment, Judai and Ryan break all the rules. She has grown into a sophisticated young woman because she has the brains and sensitivity to do so. And he has become so down-to-earth and protective of his woman—because that is the stuff that he is made of. It is only as simple as that,” he stresses. [ABS-CBN.com]

Juday's mom, Mommy Carol, said in this report that Juday and Ryan will move in to their own new house - that's being built right now - after the wedding. So I'm guessing that their wedding date will depend on when the house will be completed. Mommy Carol said that Juday already toured her around the house with kitchen as the most expensive part of the couple's future love nest. We all know that cooking is also Juday's passion so it's expected that she will choose a kitchen that will suit her taste and needs. [ABS-CBN]

Update on the anticipated wedding of Judy Ann Santos

The blogosphere has set the wedding date of Juday and Rye on May 4 but the lovely couple didn't even know it. Here is the latest update from Juday herself:

“Yung May 4 kasi, yes kinonsider namin yun, pero since May 4 is a sign of death sa feng shui, kaya siyempre hindi namin kinonsider yun.

“Madaliang pagpapakasal? Everybody naman wants naman to have their own families di ba.

[Arniel Serato/ABS-CBN]

Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo have new shows

Alfie Lorenzo reported in Abante-Tonight entertainment:
NAG-MEETING na kahapon sa Taste of L.A. restaurant sina Direk Joey Reyes, Judy Ann Santos at Ryan Agoncillo para sa kanilang sitcom sa ABS-CBN.
Heto na ang sinasabi nilang, “When it rain, it pours.”

Judy Ann Santos: "All I want is to be a good wife and a mother"

I read an article about Judy Ann Santos quoting: “After all these, the fame and the controversies,” she said, “all I really want is to be a good wife and mother.” Judai is referring to the never ending (seems like it) tax issue and like her, I also would love to see this problem of hers end so that she could move on... really move on with her plan to marry and start a family. Her desire is admirable and usually, to be a good wife and mother is easily possible if you will end up with a good and compatible partner and I can see that in Ryan. In other words, Ryan's style and ways of raising a family must be in sync with Judai and that is very important. I’d like Judai to attain her desire to raise a good family because this is very important for her fans to see and be able to follow a good example, a good role model, since family values and morality in the Philippines has gone so low. Judai, with her faith in God, strength of character and conviction, and having a guy in the person of Ryan, surely is going to succeed.
