John Lloyd Cruz can be a better young Ninoy than Piolo Pascual

The plan to film the life and love of President Cory Aquino is moving on slowly but surely. The first choices as approved by Kris and siblings are Vilma Santos as Cory and Piolo Pascual as young Ninoy. Kris Aquino says her family prefers Piolo Pascual over Cesar Montano to play Ninoy in a biopic and she went on to explain that based on her late father's age, Piolo fits the role more than Cesar. But a lot of people expressed their opinion as well that personality wise, Piolo does not fit the role of Ninoy either and that Kris and family should be more open in considering other actors like John Lloyd Cruz whose looks can come closer to Ninoy’s than Piolo’s. But the final decision is still up in the air and nothing has been offered to anyone yet. On the other hand, it’s unanimous for Vilma Santos because she is really an actress for all seasons and she can 100% do justice to the role.

Anabelle Rama confirms John Lloyd Cruz is courting Ruffa Gutierrez

MANILA – After much resistance, talent manager Annabelle Rama has finally “surrendered” to Ruffa Gutierrez and John Lloyd Cruz's alleged budding romance.

During her guesting on the 100th episode of morning show “Ruffa and Ai” Monday, Rama gave the young actor a go-signal to pursue her only daughter.

Rama said Cruz, who is nine years younger than Ruffa, has already proven his sincerity and supposed feelings for the actress during their dinner at the Gutierrezes' residence two weeks ago.

Maganda lahat iyan.’ Tawa lang siya ng tawa. Ibig sabhin gusto niya talaga si Ruffa. Sana huwag mong lokohin si Ruffa. Gusto mo talaga siya, okay lang,” Rama said.

Rama, who is known for her frankness, was also impressed by the young actor. She praised Cruz’s courage, saying that, despite her strong objection, he continuously pursues the “Ruffa and Ai” host.

Maski ayoko sa iyo, ang kulit kulit mo kay Ruffa,” she said.

There was another reason that prompted Rama to change her mind. She disclosed that it was hard for her to ignore the “twinkle” in both Ruffa and Cruz’s eyes when they were together.

“Ruffa, kaya ako nag-surrender sa iyo, nakikita ko ang mata mo [at] mata ni John Lloyd, nag-twi-twinkle twinkle,” she said.

She also rebuffed the “we’re-just-friends” public pronouncement of the two, predicting that their friendship will eventually lead to something more.

Rama gave her go-signal under one condition though – for Cruz not to hurt her daughter.

The talent manager also stated that she will no longer meddle with the decisions of her 35-year-old daughter.

[ABS-CBN]

After "You Changed My Life", announcing what's next?

Too much pressure daw ang naramdaman ni Sarah ng ina-nounce na mag-kakaroon ng pangatlong movie ang movie nila ni John Lloyd pero marami ang na-excite sa balita lalong lalo ng ang mga fans na nakaka-relate kina Laida at Miggy.

The victory party of You Changed My Life last Monday night, March 9, turned out to be a very emotional one as Director Cathy Garcia-Molina thanked everyone who made the movie possible, especially those who worked behind the scenes. ABS-CBN has always taught us the value of meritocracy. And I think I am so guilty because hindi ko siya naisasabuhay. I failed to thank the people who have helped me finish a film every time… [Sa cast], you have made my tears go away literally. You all made me laugh. I know I can be a monster at times pero kayo yung nakakapitan ko every time,” she said in between tears during her moving speech.

John Lloyd Cruz also commended the crew for giving their all to the project despite the long working hours. Then he announced that he would share 10 percent of his fee to “the boys” who really went without sleep and baths for days just to deliver a quality movie on time for its playdate. And ako naiintindihan ko na we all live in a third world country. I don’t think they’re getting much of what they deserve. Ako I just want to share, para rin mas masarap ang tulog ko sa gabi,” he later explained to the network’s reporters who attended the occasion.

But the main highlight of the event was when Star Cinema Managing Director Malou Santos announced that there would be a sequel to You Changed My Life next year. “[You Changed My Life] made history because it’s the first sequel na ginawa sa Philippine movie history na isang love story na nagkaroon ng sequel at mas malakas pa sa original. So sundan ninyo ang sunod na kabanata sa buhay ni Laida at ni Miggy sa part three,” she declared much to everyone’s excitement, including ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio who was reportedly the one who wanted another sequel the most.

Sarah Geronimo, on the other hand, was a bit apprehensive when she heard the news because people’s expectations of her would be much greater, given the accomplishments that her two films have made in less than a year. “Wow na lang po ang masasabi ko. Risky yun.

As for John Lloyd, he feels sad that it would take some time before the said reunion movie would push through.

The two lead stars of the film also stressed how much they appreciate their fans’ all-out support ever since they did A Very Special Love last 2008. “Kung pwede ko lang kayo lahat i-powerhug! Ginulat ni’yo kami ng husto sa suporta na ibinibigay ni’yo sa You Changed My Life [at] sa tandem namin ni John Lloyd. At if ever magkaroon kami ng movie part three or ng part four, sana po nandiyan pa rin kayo. [Sana magpatuloy] yung interest ni’yo na ma-witness ulit kung ano na yung development sa love story ni Laida Magtalas and ni Miggy Montenegro,” she beamed.

You Changed My Life is now on its third week showing in theatres nationwide. Watch out for more updates about the Box Office team-up of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz here on ABS-CBN.com.

Sarah Geronimo, John Lloyd crowned King and Queen of the Box Office 2008!

Sarah and John Lloyd is now officially the box-office King and Queen for 2008! Congratulations! But as expected, the very humble Sarah honored Ai Ai as the true box-office queen.

Yesterday, it was reported that Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz will be crowned Box-office King and Queen by the Guillermo Mendoza Awards for their movie A Very Special Love. Since the film is being pitted against Ai-Ai de las Alas’s Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat for the box office title, some are worried that tension would arise between the two.

When ABS-CBN.com caught up with Sarah though, she insisted that the country’s Queen of Comedy is more deserving of that title than herself. “Siyempre medyo na-bother po ako nung nalaman ko na may ganyang issue kasi katrabaho ko si Ms A. (referring to Ai-Ai). Kung sa akin nga lang po mas karapat-dapat talaga si Ms. A na tawaging Box Office Queen,” she said after the presscon of her movie You Changed My Life opposite John Lloyd Cruz.

As it happens, there are reports that Ai-Ai mentioned in previous interviews that she would be hurt if she fails to get the Box Office Queen award. “May nagsabi sa akin na parang [may issue nga daw involving the two of us]. Basta parang ano lang, alam ni Ms. A na siya talaga yung Box Office Queen,” stated Sarah, who clearly didn’t want to talk about such rumors anymore. Pero I guess gano’n talaga. Kumbaga si Ms. Ai-Ai may ipinaglalaban siya so basta yun nirerespeto ko,” she stressed.

Apart from those intrigues, there is also pressure for Sarah to do better in You Changed My Life after the phenomenal success of her first film. But the young singer-actress refused to be daunted by it all. I guess yun siguro advantage nun. Ayoko na i-entertain yung negative vibes and pressure. As long as nag-eenjoy kami at sinigurado naming maganda yung sequel, okay na ako dun,” she explained.

Her first onscreen kiss (as well as in real life for that matter) with John Lloyd Cruz happens to be a big deal amongst the local media and the moviegoers since they have been all waiting for Sarah to venture into more mature roles. But it seems that everyone has to wait until the opening of the movie to see whether she has taken this huge step or not. “Secret. Panoorin ni’yo na lang. Ayoko munang magkwento tungkol dun. Kumportable lang talaga akong katrabaho sila,” she maintained.

What’s really important to her now is that people will appreciate what she and the whole team of You Changed My Life have worked hard on. Iba rin talaga yung experience ko while doing A Very Special Love. So kung hindi man po ma-surpass, sana mapantayan man lang ng You Changed My Life yung nauna. [Rachelle Siazon/ABS-CBN]

There were many signs since late last year when the rumor about the lunch meeting of John Lloyd and Carmen Soo spread around showbiz arena like fire. Since then, all they did was try to make things work out. But Liz is the type of person who will never get use to showbiz life and lifestyle. She can't stand gossips. Luis Manzano accepted a gay role, a therefore must see

Luis Manzano has finally accepted to do a movie with John Lloyd Cruz and mom Vilma Santos in which he will portray the role of a gay lover? Oh no! OMG! But this is going to be a big challenge for the three of them and I'm sure it will be done tastefully and will surely come out as another great movie to look forward to. Vi admitted that she is quite nervous making a movie - or any movie for that matter - with son Luis. She said:

Pero I’m looking forward to it.
As we all know that first times to anything is not always easy, mother and son Vi and Luis are no exceptions to this. John Lloyd has also said that a good actor should always be able to give justice to any role given to him/her and having said this, he has no problem doing a kissing scene with Luis. either. Yikes! But because all three are really professionals, supportive and positive actors, we can expect the filming to be smooth sailing. O di vah?
