Judy Ann Santos, the last of the real big stars

Judy Ann Santos is the April issue cover for Metro Magazine’s 20th Anniversary special which includes Jose Javier Reyes, a well respected and award winning director and scriptwriter who shared and revealed his thoughts and opinion about why he considered Judy Ann the last of the real big stars.

Members of the media, including ABS-CBN.com, can attest that she is one of the few true blue artistas who work nonstop and can accommodate interruptions on the set without complaints. “That is how Judai works. In that aspect, Judai has not changed. It takes a movement of tectonic plates to make her budge or complain. She goes to the set and puts aside all qualms and concerns. There is not a shred of diva in her. She does not flaunt who she is or what she has,” he shares in the cover story of Metro.

Direk Joey further relates Judy Ann’s versatility in acting and constant reinvention of herself—even after doing a string of hit teleseryes and movies—which eventually made her a certified A-lister. “And just when people have thought they had already seen everything, Judai surprised them with a quiet yet very defined metamorphosis. She stunned them again when she came out of the romantic heroine mould into an effective spitfire comedienne in Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. Then she held the hands of her friend Dante Garcia and helped him produce an award-winning film at his first directorial attempt: suddenly, there was Judai—the producer,” he says.

Direk Joey also talks about how Judy Ann and her fiancé Ryan Agoncillo have proven to a lot of people that their opposite personalities can withstand the test of time and showbiz intrigues. “They are people. And they make no excuses for being real. In a business where smiles are rehearsed and frozen, and being nice is a matter of business investment, Judai and Ryan break all the rules. She has grown into a sophisticated young woman because she has the brains and sensitivity to do so. And he has become so down-to-earth and protective of his woman—because that is the stuff that he is made of. It is only as simple as that,” he stresses. [ABS-CBN.com]
