Charice was one of the recipients of the People of the Year 2008 award given by the Philippine Star and People Asia where in she became the center of attention. Charice left for the US to render two songs at the very important and historical pre-inauguration of President elect Obama. The two songs picked for her to sing for the much awaited event – which were perfect for her to show her singing prowess to a higher profile crowd - were God Bless America and One Moment in Time. Charice continue to walk in cloud nine for the sudden international fame she achieved in such a short period of time that she only used to play in her wildest imagination.
